Taking Care of Your Sick Family

Sharing is caring!

It’s that time of year. When the weather drops and gets chilly and we, unfortunately, are more likely to get sick. Her in Colorado Springs we have had snow the last two days and although I enjoy the cold weather I’m really hoping to avoid any of us getting a cold or sick this season.

I want to help you keep your own family healthy and make it a little easier on you if they do get sick. We love our families and we hate them feeling yucky but unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a magic solution to keeping them healthy permanently.

So if we are unable to fully prevent them from getting sick I have found that the next best thing to do is to make sure you are prepared. That way when someone gets hit with a cold or the flu you are right there and ready for it.

The last thing anyone wants to do when they are sick is run to the store and grab supplies. So last week I headed over to King Soopers, my local supermarket and stocked up on some things I know we will be needing.

When I got to the health aisle I found that they had this display of Theraflu Power Pods which I had never heard of before. I’m a fan of Theraflu cough medicine so these were interesting. It says that they are compatible with most single-serve coffee makers, these fast-relieving pods work on even your severe symptoms. Press. Sip. Relief. It will be interesting to give them a try if we get sick.

I also made sure to grab a few other things that I know my family may need this winter. Keeping surfaces clean and free from germs is a great way to help avoid illness. With using Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes we are able to  Wipe away 99.9% of the most common allergens* I made sure to grab a couple of these so that we can continue to use them over the next few months.  These wipes are perfect for wiping down counters and hard, non-porous surfaces.

Next on the list that I needed to grab was some Abreva® Pump Cold Sore and Fever Blister Treatment.  Abreva is not for temporary symptom relief, but healing. It delivers the best results when used at the first sign of a cold sore (e.g. the tingle that one feels on his/her lip). This is just a great product to have at home ready in case it’s needed.

Another great item to have on hand during cold season are Breathe® Right Extra Clear Nasal Strips. These strips for your nose help open inflamed sinus passages and makes it easier to breathe. Nose strips provide relief for congestion due to colds, allergies, or a deviated septum and reduce snoring caused by nighttime nasal congestion.

Then for when someone in your home has a cold and wants to feel better here are two products that will help them feel better. I got both the Theraflu Power Pods Nighttime Severe Cold and the Robitussin® Maximum Strength Honey Cough & Chest Congestion DM.

Remember, Theraflu Power Pods Nighttime Severe Cold and Robitussin® Maximum Strength Honey Cough & Chest Congestion DM should not be used at the same time.

I love products with honey in them when I’m sick. I love this cough medicine that is New! It has The real honey you want, the powerful cough relief you need. Gluten Free. No Artifical Colors. True Source Certified Honey.

I cleared out a cabinet above my single-serve coffee maker so that I will be able to use the Theraflu Power Pods Nighttime Severe Cold. My husband is excited to give these a try even though of course he is hoping not to get sick this season.

So if you want to make this cold and flu season easier for your family make a trip to the store and get stocked up now that way you will be ready if you and your family get sick. So much better to do it now when you feel good than have to run out to the store at night because someone doesn’t feel well.
